The loss of Atlanta hip hop star Bankroll Fresh was a tragic loss because he was one of the realist and most influential stars in the community. Bankroll Fresh was killed under a hail of gunfire at the Street Execs studio in Atlanta where he worked out. His passing has not only left many denouncing the cowardly act, it has also cut several top rappers deep, evidenced by their responses on social media and in interviews.
Born Trentavious White, 28 year-old Bankroll Fresh, who was known as Yung Fresh earlier in his career, has been hailed for his talent and ingenuity by no less than three top rappers since his untimely death. Indeed, the young rapper was just about still basking in the success of his breakout mixtape, Life of a Hot Boy 2, which spawned the hit single, “Hot Boy” in 2015, and had been carving out his own ATL fan base after collabs with Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz and Future.
In fact, 2016 would quite possibly be the year for Fresh as he had even been creating further bonds with the ATL community after successfully hosting “Banksgiving” last year, which was a charity project. His subsequent time at Street Execs was all about laying tracks, so much so that the neighbors have had to call the cops about the noise level a few times. Nonetheless, his talent was undeniable and his rise seemed inevitable leaving several of Hip Hop’s finest to come out with statements expressing their sadness at the trapper’s passing and offering condolences to his family.
“R.I.P. Bankroll Fresh this is so sad,” tweeted Juicy J.
“Man I’m a fan of Bru and always will be. I’m in shock at the moment!! Senseless deaths we just got to stop it, I’m speaking up now,” added 2 Chainz, who was close to Fresh. Chainz also expressed his sadness in an interview with Wendy Williams.
Not to be outdone, celebrated Atlanta rapper, T.I., used his Instagram profile to say kudos to the memory of Fresh. “U was a real1 who always came from a real place.”
Many others inside and out of the industry have expressed grief at the loss of Bankroll Fresh. A pall of gloom still hangs over the ATL music landscape as everyone wonders ‘who killed Fresh’ and, more importantly, why.
